I have just been told that my pip has been ended because my form was too late arriving. Don’t they understand that with limited mobility I have to rely on other people to post things for me and I am not in control of exactly when things are done.
But no, let’s not get in touch and find out if there is a problem just stop money. I am so angry at the moment but also sick of having to fight for everything! It would have been so much easier if I had never worked and sat on my couch watching tv every day as at least 2 generation’s have. How can it be legal to take away the only income I have? Here we go again.

Hello @laney365‍, thank you for opening this discussion. I'm so sorry to hear about your PIP being taken away, sometimes they can be so inflexible and unwilling to understand personal circumstances and situations. If you have the time or energy, don't hesitate to get in contact with Citizens Advice, they may be able to give you some guidance.

Has anyone else ever had issues with your PIP claim? Can you share your experiences? How did you resolve the situation? Can you share any resources or advice?

Well I have to say I have been hammered by PIP/DLA for many years, ever since the last Labour government brought in ATOS. I have been inspected by their doctors, their nurses and then down to their so called advises for many years, all face to face. Unfortunately to to the mass increase of claimants Labour got tough and this is the policy ever since by the Tories. So the problem is not with the disabled person but those that make false claims and why we have such draconian procedures. The government wanted a specific reduction by a set figuire of people claiming disability in its various forms. Benefit claims have very strict criteria and time limits, then they operate a system of rejecting your claim and you are forced restart a new application. Simple, objective, saves the government millions with this process, they have been doing this with all benefits, a simple saving money procedure for the government.

The only way to avoid it is to contact them before the stated date and ask them for extra time and why. By phone if they answer but they don't really care as it is you that wants the benefit, sometimes you can wait hours for them to answer.

For my wife she has never had a call of any kind for a review since she applied more than 20 years ago. For me as I said I get harrassed every 4 years without fail, jumping through their hoops. Got my MP involved one year, he could do nothing and I had to go 20 or more miles for face to face interview. Irony this year with Covid they did it over the phone and I complained they never ask my wife but I am always investigated and examined. They raised my money to the highest rate of care, go figuire, I was on medium care and higher mobility before.

So jump through their hoops, if you have time issues, tell them and they will give you more time. You are one of millions going through this and benefits agencies are hard as nails, there are no buts in their eyes. Stick to the rules, help is all around with Age Concern or CAB or indeed most charities if you are overwhelmed, use it, its free!

People have been one the (dole) for generations start there. Which is something they will NOT do as it would be too much hard work. Pick on the most vulnerable seems to be what they always do.

About six years ago, after having my incapacity benefit restored, within a week my PIP was taken away! One of the main reasons for this was said that I produced by hand my bus pass, at the medical, which they had asked me to show in advance! Everything quoted by Courtney J is true! They call on the most futile excuses to take your benefit away, where possible!

They use many methods to trick you, plan and take advice, even sitting to long can be a failure as moving with a back complaint is essential. They have centers with cameras inside and out, they will use most surprising excuses to cancel your claim. Take a person with you and let them do all the little bizarre things they come up with and they can write down questions asked. They are not normally medical professionals just trained to fail you for the most part with devious ploys as you found out!

Yes a strange old world, as private companies acting fot the benefit agency they get more money if they fail claimants rather than pass their claim. So they incentivised to reject the claim, so good preperation and awareness is essential. The various charities are the experts at giving help and assistance, so are several websites but some want small fees to cover their costs. But a warning they do change criteria so keeping up to date with the changes is important. Some of this may seem hard but there are real issues for the government. For the majority of disabled people in the UK we are a small percentage of society. But certain groups in society have up to 25% on disabilities, so the rules were forced to get tougher over many years to reduce fraudelent claims. I have experienced many changes over the years, as with all the benefits system where many myths and misconceptions exist by the public!

I was warned a few years ago about PIP status, claims and assessment. Initially, when we arrived I wasn't allowed to claim for PIP until I was resident in the country for 2 years.

In the meantime, my husband was granted a minimal pension due to no income and being pension age. As his partner, and not yet reaching pension age, a couple are considered for a certain amount until both parties reach pension age. They then each get separate pensions at the standard amount.

After 2 years of residency and being able to claim PIP, I made a few enquiries and was told if I received PIP, my husband's pension would be lowered and we might be worse off especially if I didn't receive the full benefit of PIP and depending on the results of assessment, ie was refused totally.

As a couple we have not interfered with our current plan and will wait for me to reach pension age. This is purely a matter of remaining on some sort of benefit, and playing safe, instead of getting nothing at all which could happen.
