Hi Jessie...I was prescribed Tramidol years ago for depression and migraines. I had to be taken off of them because they gave me rashes.

It's more when I looked it up the risk of mixing Tramidol and diazapam it said seizures which I get with epilepsy so am I at a higher risk of seizures because my doctor will not give me a straight forward answer its like they are trying to avoid it

@Jessie R I had 2 epileptic fits following a cardiac arrest in 1975. I was at home in bed the first time, I don't remember any signs, all I remember was waking up with my friend talking to me and wondering what she was doing in my bedroom!?? lol I was taken into hospital and told I had had an epileptic fit. The second one, I woke up on the kitchen floor with my hubby by my side again no idea what had happened. The ambulance men took me to the hospital and I went home soon after. I haven't had any incidences since. Both the fits or, episodes as they are called both happened in 1975. I had some tests done after that but all seemed ok. I can't remember if it was around that time I had Tramidol, not sure!?? All I know is that it didn't agree with me. I was taking other medications too at the time and more medications now days. I spoke to a lady who suffered epilepsy on an occasion I was admitted to hospital with severe Asthma Attack. She was telling me, she had driven her daughter to school and had no idea she had done so. She had stopped in the middle of the road and was taken to hospital from there suffering an epileptic fit. Its called something when your awake and not knowing what your doing but, I can't think what it's called.!??
Do you suffer a lot from epilepsy Jessie R? I hope you don't and have it under control and able to live a normal life.
I have got a lot of medications. I have had steroid since they came out in IV form. This bloated my face and body and I was un-recognisable. They helped with the situation on hand. Steroid is a god send to me because without them I wouldn't be here today. The down side of them is I have now got Osteoporosis due to the steroid. I was in my early twenties when I first had steroid IV form, I am 69 years of age this year so, I haven't done too badly considering. I had a breathing tablet called Phylocontin given me once, years back now and had to stop taking that because I was coughing up blood and it all stopped once I stopped taking the tablet. But, the steroid Inhaler I can't do without, sometimes I have to take Prednisolone steroid in tablet form at times if I need too...To be honest, I am thankful to have gotten this far in life and even more thankful to the new medications that are out today. I always put myself on a strict diet when taking Prednisolone because they put on so much weight.
Anyway, I hope all this info helps you or anyone really.
Best Wishes

I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 1999 when I was 5 and it runs in the family it isn't very well controlled and a fit where you are awake but don't know is as I know it a petti mal the other is a grand mal both are scary and horrible to witness the grand mal is my worst nightmare as I am usually bed bound for up to 72 hours really ill but on the bright side I have my family and hopefully with the right dose everything will sort its self out this is why I am unsure about Tramidol I am not sure if it's worth it just for back pain
PS I am having a good week so far

@Jessie R...Hi Jessie, sorry I'm late in answering your comment. Been having problems with hubby all this week (Bipolar) and he has just been told he has a large lump on his R/lung. Hubby has been difficult to cope with this week but he seems to be coming to terms with what his GP has told him, but he has got to wait for more tests to be done.
I'm sorry you've had epilepsy all your life. I've had severe Asthma all my life. I was diagnosed when I was 6 years old in 1953, although I had this illness in 1952, not that its the same thing I know, just saying we don't know what its like to live a normal life. Yes, I remember now, petti mal and grand mal. It must have been petti mal that I had as it didn't last for long, all I can remember is that I ached all over and was really confused as to what was happening to me!? Grand mal sounds really scary and I feel for you dear, and hope and wish you easier times ahead. I am glad you have got your family around you to help you through bad times.I wish I knew more about epilepsy so I could help you in some way. There are people on this site who can give you more help or advice or share with you what has happened to them.
Life can be so crawl at times and I think to myself why me? Why have I been afflicted with this condition? why can't I be normal like other people and live a normal life? There are no answers to these questions, all I would say is we are special. I had a cardiac arrest brought on by a severe Asthma attack which happened in 1975, then followed by the epileptic fits as I mentioned the fits above in my last post. I feel grateful that I am a live. Since the cardiac arrest, I have looked at life differently and at times, I thank God in my own way for giving me another chance in life even though it was the doctors who brought me back to life, who I should be praying too as our lives are in their hands. It is strange, I'm not a church goer but, I believe in God in my own way, I don't normally share with anyone about my thoughts of God as I normally think about this inwardly, I've only thought this way since the cardiac arrest!?? How strange is that? I have a lot to say about my life since the cardiac arrest, I could go on and on about this but, I will leave it here because I know it can be daunting if no-one has any interest, that's why I normally keep it to myself.
Best Wishes and you take care of yourself Jessie

I have never heard of an interaction between Tramadol and Diazepam. When you mix two sedative drugs you are going to feel sleepier and more unco-ordinated than you would expect but that applies to all mixtures like that.
I find it very hard to link Diazepam to seizures. If you are admitted to hospital with Status Epilepticus. seizures that wont stop, Diazepam is quite likely to be the drug they try first to terminate the seizures. I can't see Tramadol and seizures either.
If you want a definite answer try the British National Formulary. It is online and still free I think. At the back there is a very long list of interactions. If Diazepam and Tramadol aren't there I'd wouldn't worry.

I decided to check the BNF but it is no longer free. I checked the makers of Tramadol information about it. It does have a link to seizures but not to Diazepam, to the SSRI group Prozac and the like.
Just a point about Migraines. Is there some reason why you can't take Triptans They are pretty effective.

Just wondering if I should be prescribed Tramidol just because I know that it is the only thing that helps me with back pain and migraines
When I looked into it I found out that a few of my other medications interact with it E.G Diazepam I only found out because I didn't think much of it and put them in with everything else I have to take and slept for 3 days so googled it and if I ever want more all I have to do is ask and I get them.
Shouldn't they know the risk and deny me them as I do suffer from suicidal thoughts now and then which I am having treatment for
Anyone know if I should be aloud Tramidol please let me know what is the right thing to do is
P.S I don't have any Tramidol left and I am fine
