Well I have a daughter, 27, claiming she has this ADHD and wants to to take the test for several thousand pounds or wait years for the NHS test through her GP. I discribe it as it seems most of the children and youth these days, always looking for excuses for their failures, the 'Bart syndrome', always someelse's fault. So, the wonderful state solution give them more drugs, that will solve the problem.
I am not sold on labelling children with excuses for their bad behavior which was not dealt with by simple discipline. I have my self have a label attached to myself at 42 in my return to education at University. Something I never considered throughout life, yes I had issues but simply got on with my working life.
Today these labels are being used for ill-discipline behavior in the school and as a ex-school governor had to deal with such matters of out of control pupil's disruptive and violent behavior. Pathetic teachers who could not control such pupils as a whole class of children had their education destroyed. I have had files two foot high of a single pupil's appalling behavior and violence, finally being put on the expelling procedures for beating up teachers. In my day we had tough discipline to control behavior, now they have nothing but strange labels and drugs. The failed state system is left picking up the pieces.
So the labels keep coming, what the answer is, the state cannot afford to provide the treatment or indeed assessments, discipline goes out the window!
