@Quoth_the_Raven Hello,
I think this is terribly unprofessional. Nevermind unprofessional, just downright rude and frighteningly insensitive. I would never even ask a family member or close friend to show me scars.
Would you think baout eventually moving job? It sounds like an unhealthy environment. You have my thoughts...

Glad it's not just me being over sensitive. I think some people just don't get how personal it is.

@Quoth_the_Raven Don't worry, you aren't being overly sensitive...they sound very clueless. I hope things are better today?

I've been signed off work after having a meltdown which then involved a small amount of self harm, in this case slashing at the back of my wrist with a knife a dozen times.
2 weeks later my arm is currently in a state of scabbed over cuts and scars. I have my arm bandaged up partly because of the scabbed over cuts and partly just to hide everything, and then on top of that I'm wearing a long sleve t-shirt to hide the bandage incase I roll up the sleeves of my hoodie which I often do without thinking, as I'm wanting to avoid questions about the bandage.
When I stopped into work to drop off a sick note/discuss what my cover needs to do/arrangements etc, my superior, who knows whats happened, asked to see my cuts. Not my arm, to actually see the cuts, so there is no chance that they didn't know what has happened.
They asked several times, despite the fact I told them I didn't want to look at my arm, least of all show someone else. In the end I had to point out my arm was bandaged up, and I wasn't going to mess around unbandaging and rebandaging my arm up.
I'm not sure if they're asking because they're curious, have a morbid curiosity, nosey, or just want to make sure I'm not faking anything.
I felt quite upset by their request, especially after I had refused with what I felt was good reason and they kept asking.
Is it just me being over sensitive or is it massively inappropriate to ask to see the results of someones self harm whatever the reason (unless you're a trained medical professional)?
