My top tip to keep your asthma under control is to always attend your annual asthma review and take your asthma medication as instructed.
I do this myself and my asthma is under control. I have noticed that my asthma is triggered mainly by cigarette smoke, but temperature also triggers my asthma as well.

I have mentioned this in an earlier posting. I have discovered that if I keep my bedroom at a constant 70f then this helps my asthma control immensely. If fact, at my last hospital review the consultant said he did not want to see me for two years so this treatment has had a positive affect on my asthma and well being.
On very cold, frosty mornings my breathing is more difficult and this is how I came across the differences in my breathing and temperatures . I actually discovered it after a stay in Mauritius with the night temperatures much similar to what I keep my bedroom at present. It may cost a little more money in heating costs but I consider it more important to have good breathing both night and day than saving money. I asked my doctor for help with my bill but he sadly refused.!!!!!!!!! (joke)

I'm 66 this year, I have never know a time in my life when I've never been an asthmatic
when I was a child it was controlled by taking Effedrin and Franel tablets, I used these plus a Ventolin inhalers right into my early twenties
I have gone through a rebellious stage of refusing to take any medication 💊I told myself I didn't need it(I was very wrong)
At 18 my doctor recommended I should start SMOKING I did lasted 30years until other thing's started to go wrong with my health
fast forward to now for my Asthma/COPD(thanks to smoking) my medication 💊list is Seebri Breezhaler, Montelukast tablets, Uniphyllin Continus, Azithromycin tablets, Symbicort 400/12 and Ventolin Evohaler
now as long as I'm sensible (at my age I try to be) I can handle the breathing better than my other health issues. Because of my Asthma plus I've had a stroke it is unwise for me to have both knees replaced which I so badly need, but I still wake ⏰up in the morning 😃and that I'm thankful of.

I have had asthma all my life, really bad as a child but eased off around 14 although I still had problems until late 20's early 30's then hit me hard again but I learned to try to avoid triggers, and when I felt I was having problems I slow my breathing down and if I'm at home I tend to switch myself off and it has been described as putting myself in a trance( at least that's what people tell me ) but really I just try to ignore everything around me until I have my breathing back in control, also being bloody minded about it determined not to let it get me.

Slow deep breaths and breathing exercises taught me by an asthma nurse many years ago.

Hello everyone :)
We regularly talk about different things that can trigger asthma, such as weather or different seasons, but what about the things you do to manage your asthma?
Some of the tips are such as wrapping a scarf around your mouth during winter to swarm the air going into your lungs.
What do you do to manage your asthma? Any tips or tricks to share with other members? :)
