@Yolanda48 Hello Yolanda48, thank you for starting this discussion. I think many of us are feeling confused on this. I believe severe cases of asthma are still considered to be high risk (or "clinically extremely vulnerable"), per the NHS list. Let me tag some members, though, who may have more information and advice.
Hello all, I hope you're doing well. Have you heard anything, either from your GP or from another source, about asthmatics being removed from the shielding list? Are you going back to work? Please feel free to share any advice or experiences here.

@Courtney_J I have not heard anything else. My letter and text I received advised to shield to 30th June but my Company say I have got to go back on 11th June as the government have not given them another date. As it is not being reassessed till 15th June I am concerned as I will be back at work by then. I am still very concerned about the risks, I work in a shop and to keep a 2 metre distance on my home shopping job is basically impossible. I have read lots of things about people being removed from the list but do not know anyone that this has happened to.

Hi I never got a letter in the first place, it was my GP who told me to self isolate and not leave the house for a walk in effect shielding but not from family. This is due to the meds I’m on high dose steroid inhaler along with montelukast and have not been well controlled last couple of months. I spoke to him last week and he told me to continue shielding until the end of June. I’m not sure after spending 10 weeks in doors I would feel safe given the statistics are not that reassuring

Went to the GP today because I was struggling a bit with my Asthma today. She said to continue shielding. I have been given more oral steroids, 4th lot since March, antibiotics, I already take fostair 200mg 2 puffs 4 times a day and ventolin same amount, and montelukast at night. I have checked on the government website and it does say severe asthma is to continue shielding and then also checked on asthma.org.uk which lists who is considered severe. Have a look. It has answered my questions. By the way, my letter came from my GP and I suggest that if you think you need to be on the shielding list your GP can help.

@babymanic71 If you have a letter saying the 30th of June then I’m sure your company has to honour that. Only when the government say its says to go back. From research that I have done, the government has only mentioned that the shielded can go out for walks. I believe if you are asthmatic there is some criteria, one you have to be asthmatic, you have to take a list of meds (you can see those on asthma.org.uk) and you have frequently take oral steroids. If you have any questions I think you need to Contact your Gp.

Is anyone else confused about the news that asthmatics have been removed from the shielding list. I got my letter from the GP back in March. But am I now to believe that I should be going back to work? Not heard anything from my GP.
