I have donated blood fifty times now and knowing i may have saved someones life is a fantastic feeling . :) I urge anyone who is thinking about it to go and do it , it takes around 30 minutes only a short time out of your life which could save someone elses life. :)

I used to donate each year, but know it is really hard for me cause I have to be in 'good health' not feeling dizzy and stuff and it is not often that that happens so I'e stoped but I also want to encourage people to do it :)

I hope we all know that giving blood can save a life! And this is why I want to share with you this year's WHO campaign for Blood Donation.
<<The theme of this year’s campaign is "Thank you for saving my life". It focuses on thanking blood donors who save lives every day through their blood donations and strongly encourages more people all over the world to donate blood voluntarily and regularly with the slogan “Give freely, give often. Blood donation matters.” The campaign aims to highlight stories from people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood and people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so.>>
Some Stats:
* Every year there are 108 million donors
* 65% of blood transfusions in low-income countries are given to children under five years of age.
* 2020 is the target year for all countries to obtain 100% of blood supplies from voluntary unpaid donors.
If you want to know more about this day and the campaign go into the WHO's site.
Let us know what you think and the experiences you have had!!! Remember that sharing can help others and you!!!
All the Best,
Gilda
