@Somya.P I have an ileostomy, so the meds that cause constipation are helpful to me in slowing things down!
My mum has constipation as a side effect of medications, and then has a prescribed stool softener too, so I'd suggest talking to the prescribing doctor.

@Somya.P For many years my wife has suffered badly with constipation with me spending time injecting enemas, I can now say with all medical equipment, drugs, cameras etc. I know my wife inside and out. Yes, I suffered during my morphine days but such issues rarely affect me.
For resolving issues of this kind I have argued with my wife for years to take her latulose regularly the instant she has not been that day. Only to be ignored and the problem dogged us for years with latulose and enemas on tap from the GP. Finally got her trained in the last couple of years and things run smoothly. Being proactive does seem to relieve issue and she suffers rarely now, so my haunting 20 years of struggle and drama is over it seems!

Regret I am very allergic prone and cannot take a lot of natural remedies due to the ingredients in them.
For the last year my doctor has had me on 10ml Lactulose twice daily. Being epileptic the medication causes constipation, but this does relieve it.

@mr chipps Thank you. Twice I have had hyponatremia from 2 different epilepsy medications in 2019 and 2022. I am also on sodium chloride tablets daily now for that reason.
I have stage 3 kidney disease and have to watch my fluid intake. All other medications I am on also cause havoc, but the lactose definitely helps a lot.
Please take care of yourself and stay as well as possible.

Hydration is extremely underrated and ignored. However it is the key to regular bowel movements, especially when taking numerous medications!

Hello everyone,
Oftentimes, the medication we've been put on can bring about some bothersome side effects, and one that seems to be rather common is the problem of constipation.
What are your go-to natural remedies for dealing with constipation at home?
Your insights would be greatly appreciated!
Take care,
Somya from the Carenity team
