Well last time Labour threw money at the NHS they wasted it on increasing Admin staff by 50% , virtually no extra medical staff. They wasted billions on a failed IT system, then scrapped it. Then to improve qualty of service by tick box exercises, whewre nurses sat behind desk filling in the forms. This led to lack of patient care where thousands of patients died in hospital from malnutrition and dehydration. The PFI was also a major disaster for the NHS that still a problematic today, While Tories brought it in on a small scale, Labour expanded it massively causing an appalling financial legacy that continues.
So does extra funds work, not really without reform, which won't happen under Labour. Perhaps using private hospitals and treatment abroad may be the best option for the backlog. Perhaps slimming medication, monitoring using IT in the home etc., while using watches that allows people to observe their conditions better may avoid hospital stays, innovation is perhaps the only solution. Us golden oldies use the NHS more than any other age group, so ideas around our age group would be a good investment. The NHS is appallingly inefficient and provides a poor return for the money. I know as I get older and get serious ill, the NHS will let me die rather than waste resources. I watched them do it years ago to my wife's and my parents, money takes and care walks!

I am disappointed that hospices, GP surgeries and Phamacies have all got to pay National insurance. They should be exempt.

Hello everyone,
How are you doing? 🌞
The government recently announced an additional £25.7 billion for the NHS over the next year, marking one of the largest increases in NHS funding since 2010. With this new funding, the NHS aims to reduce waiting times by adding 40,000 extra appointments each week for planned treatments, like knee replacements. The funding will also support new surgical hubs, increase mental health services, and improve cancer treatment with better technology and resources.
This investment comes at a time when many patients are facing long waits for critical care, and these changes are part of a plan to help patients receive treatment within 18 weeks of referral. There are also plans for a long-term 10-year vision to address NHS challenges, to be outlined in 2025. But with the strain on the NHS, some wonder if these steps will be enough to meet the growing demand, especially for those with chronic conditions or urgent health needs.
What do you think about this new funding? Do you believe these steps will make a difference for patients? Have long waits for appointments affected you personally?
