Adapt, the only solution that fits, I had to change jobs throughout my life as my diseases got worse. Given a choice in my youth and made aware of my depreciation of my ability to work, I would have opted for a less physical work enviroment. I did not, so ended up a crip, like many manual trades in the end around 40 to 50 years old it turns men into cripples.

@robjmckinney Adapting, for me, is what helped me. I really struggled with mental health issues and my career was not helpful in helping me manage my mental health. Changing career/job helped a lot. Things are still hard, but I able to manage my mental health in better ways now.

As a brain tumour survivor, I have met every kind of prejudice imaginable - from "you don't think I am going to take THAT into account", to losing jobs because of it. Currently, I am not working, and do not anticipate ever being able to do so again.

Hello everyone,
How are you today? 😊
Receiving the diagnosis of a chronic illness can change your entire life. Unlike a temporary illness, such as a cold or the flu, a chronic illness may never disappear and can disrupt a patient's life, encroaching on their daily life, habits, and career.
So, what is the impact of your chronic illness on your ability to work? What kind of adjustments have you had to make to continue working? Have you discussed it with your employer and colleagues?
