I had polio in 1947 as a 15 month old and have never walked unaided. In 2019 I was finding the stairs in our home more and more difficult so w e had a stairlift installed and it’s been a life saver as now, after a period in hospital, I cannot climb steps at all other than the single step into our home which was adapted to make it wider and covered with a rubber surface, so that I can stand with my crutches on the step and a grab rail which I use to pull myself up onto the step.

Hi about 2 years ago we decided to buy one of those hospital type beds advertised mainly on daytime tv. We bought it because I was having a lot of trouble lying down due to my asthma.
We got a double bed with two single mattresses and they adjusted separately so when I'm having trouble I can lift my side up and my wife's side can stop flat if she wants it too. It's great for reading in bed as well, lift the head up and read for a while then lower it to sleep.
Pricey but worth every penny.

Hello everyone,
Managing a chronic illness or disability sometimes means making adjustments to your home to better support your health and daily needs. This could include big changes, like installing a ramp, or smaller tweaks, like organizing things to reduce physical strain.
Have you made any adaptations to your living space to help with your condition? What changes have made the biggest difference for your comfort or accessibility?
