I have always walked, but since the diagnosis of knee arthritis, i have been anxious about it. Have to say my knee gets sore when i walk and i get pain after, i stopped for a while but realised that I have to move, so i have started again.
I walk about 3 to 5 miles a day, not a fantastic pace but at least I am moving.

Hi @fernster,
I really admire your determination to keep walking despite your knee arthritis! It’s great that you’ve found a balance that works for you. Even though your pace might not be fast, moving is what counts, and every step is progress! 😊 You might want to talk with your doctor or physiotherapist about managing the pain after walking. Sometimes, adjusting your walking surface or doing strengthening exercises can help with knee support.
How do you usually feel after your walks? Have you noticed any improvements in how your knee feels?
Take care,
Somya from the Carenity Team 🌼

@Somya.P Absolutely! I try to walk at least 30 minutes a day, when I can, I've also notice improvement in my energy levels and mood since I started. I enjoy walking outdoors when the weather is nice; its a great way to connect nature. However I also use the treadmill when I can't go outside.

Hi @limsonbros,
That’s fantastic to hear! It’s a wonderful way to stay active with an extra layer of relaxation and mindfulness. It’s also smart to have the treadmill as a backup. Have you noticed any other benefits, like improved sleep or better focus, since you started walking regularly?
Take care,

@gmorlet Hello there! You’re absolutely right, making physical activity enjoyable can be such a game-changer! When it feels like something we genuinely look forward to, it’s so much easier to stay consistent over time. Do you have any favourite activities or ways to keep things fun?
Take care,

Because it is highly unlikely there will ever be a request regarding annual walking; and, after bouts of bullous pemphigoid, covid, pneumonia and two major storms, I managed to continue a yearly ritual, prompted by the state of Texas.
One fact even Texans don't know about Texas. You are not Texan just by being born here. We are Texans because we behave like Texans. My illustration of that independent resolve is to walk from, and back, to having my wife's ex-Personal Transportation Cruiser inspected.
The most recurring situation, from a congenital birth defect, is explaining; while I have absolutely no problem with being referred to as crippled, I will never, voluntarily, place myself in a position to be viewed as "a cripple".
My insistence, to avoid this, has even compelled me to sever personal relationships. Maintaing self-respect has boundaries; and, in the Lone Star State, they are well defined.

Hi @LifeDelineator,
That's a powerful reflection on independence and resilience! Walking truly represents more than just physical movement—it can also be about asserting control over our lives. How have these walks impacted your mindset, especially after all you've been through with your health?
Take care,

@Somya.P - Social media is rife with examples of those who are slighted by acts of bad intention; but, because insults usually come from strangers, there is no discussion of the one thing worse than mockery....disappointment.
Because social ostracization has become a fact of life; leers, taunts and social recoil are more an expectation than a surprise; however, disappointment is even worse, because you expected something better from that, trusted, individual. That is why strangers can be tolerated, but betrayal, even to the smallest degree, can not.
I am certain there are many who would not agree with my remedy; but, an objective application is a necessity, not a choice

Hi @LifeDelineator,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You make a very insightful point about how disappointment from those we trust can be even harder to deal with than from those we do not know. It’s true that because of the expectations and emotional investment we have in those relationships, what feels like betrayal, even on a small scale, can leave a lasting impact.
It sounds like maintaining boundaries and self-respect has been important for you, even when faced with difficult situations. How do you get through those feelings when disappointment occurs?
Take care,
