Hi Mishas - having Dialysis or if you start Dialysis you will feel much better in yourself. The only draw back is the actual length of the treatment, for me it is four hours. I talk and chat to the nurses who are very supportive and friendly and other patients too - we have good fun together on the ward and this helps a lot.

I am at the point where I am likly to require dialysis within the year. I am also on the waitinglist for a transplant. I am quite anxious about what the next year will bring. I keep looking for signs of my deterioration which I realise is not sensible to do. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a transplant.

Very unnerving. I hope it won't be as bad as we both fear.

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
Can anyone else share their experience with dialysis? What type of dialysis have you done (haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis)? Have you had any side effects? How long does it take? What should others expect?

I am in end stage renal failure and have been on the transplant list for just 5 months. It is hard as you don't really know if you will ever receive a kidney and the idea of dialysis is frightening.I am on a restricted diet but not on dialysis yet.Is anyone else there in the same position?
