Hello Neil1964, thank you for creating this discussion! I think many people with IBS and other digestive disorders go through having to change their diet to avoid flaring their condition. That's a shame that you have to give up so many of your favourite things, I'm not sure what I would do if I had to give up chocolate!
Hello members, I hope you don't mind that I've tagged you here. Have you had to change your diet since you've been diagnosed? What foods have you had to avoid? Have you found any good substitutes? What do you do to handle the pain?

@Neil1964 Hello Neil, I don't have IBS, but I have ulcerative colitis and I experience many digestive issues as well. What really causes me problems are things that are high in fibre or sulfur (leafy green veg, onions, etc.). I also have problems with alcohol and caffeine, so I've given up that and I try to limit my tea intake or I go for decaf. Take care and stay safe!

@Speech I have UC and mostly have issue with high fibre and spicy foods. I've never had an issue with salad, but with certain raw vegetables and salad sauces. Is it every time you eat a salad, or just that one time, because I wonder if it was food poisoning from e.coli or something? Have you talked to a doctor about it?

For the last week to ten days I've had severe stomach pain and bloating. I went to the Doctor on Friday who sent me to emergency at the hospital for checking. They did x-rays and bloods and said these would be with the doctor this week. I'll phone the Doctor tomorrow to see if they have the results.
I've always been allergic to wheat, dairy, protein, seafood, spices, fruit, i.e. apples, oranges, bananas and anything with pips/seeds. I'm allergic to many medications and have very sensitive skin which doesn't help.
Whether this pain is related to IBS, I have no idea but hope to pick up a few digestive tips from you all.
Thinking of you during lockdown; take care!
