Porridge seems to cause a terrible blood sugar spike with my son. A better breakfast for him is egg and toast.

Have you tried splitting the dose or if your son is on a pump you could split the dose for carb heavy meal, it might need a bit of trial and error to find out what works best, it may or may not be feasible for you.

He unfortunately isn't on the pump yet - on waiting list! Thanks for the advice. He took some nuts with his breakfast and things seemed to even out ok.
