@Gillykin Me too. I work in a nursing home where we had/have residents in isolation. When I informed the nurse on duty I couldn't care for them because I'm high risk I was made to feel uncaring and guilty! Who is in the wrong here? The residents are in their 90's, I'm younger (not Much). Only just been diagnosed so how severe my condition is is unknown? Waiting for a ct scan. COPD is CHRONIC however severe and it's a respiratory condition none of us with this should be in work. Stay safe x

@diventh60 Those of you with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as COPD or asthma can contact your GP for a 'Rescue Pack'. It gives you a 5 day supply of a corticosteroid (prednisolone) and a 5 day supply of an antibiotic (usually amoxicillin or doxycycline) which can be started immediately if you develop any breathing issues.I have copd emphysema 4th Stage and until recently hadn't had a chest infection for 3yrs. I caught a chest infection last month off a nurse at the hospital where i was admitted after having my 2nd Stroke.

@Gillykin you really should be self isolating. Its very important. Can you be furlonged. You can ask for a letter from your GP. Universal credit is also there for you. Its hard and scary i no. Try to stay strong.

I don't want a letter, my friends had a letter as she has copd and on it it says, in the event of corona virus, do not resuscitate, she has said to me she is frightened of getting the virus as they won't resuscitate her, and she sees me as 1 of the lucky ones. Thats awful, so just because you have copd you're not worth saving, just great isn't it.

Hello everyone,
Patients with chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD are part of the population at risk of complications from Coronavirus infection. It's really important to follow recommendations and guidelines published by the government and the NHS in order to best protect ourselfs from infection.
Feel free to consult our two recent articles on the coronavirus and chronic illness for more information:
Coronavirus: What do you need to know?
Coronavirus and chronic illness
I've created this discussion so we can pose any questions or concerns about the current pandemic or just generally share our feelings about what is going on.
Have you consulted the recommendations? Who informed you first: you doctor, your pharmacist, a relative? Have you been taking any particular precautions? Have you been self-isolating? Do you have any advice for others?
Take care,
Courtney
