Hello all, I hope it's alright that I'm posting this. My mum has Alzheimer's and she has progressed into the middle stage, so we're seeing more symptoms and behaviours. She has started to exhibit signs of "sundowning" and I'm at a loss at what to do. She is pretty mild throughout the day, but come late afternoon/early evening she becomes very agitated and a bit nasty. It's heart-breaking to watch because I can see the confusion in her eyes and I think deep inside she's confused and knows that something is going on with her mind.
Do any of you have any tips on how to manage it or prevent it? I'd love to be of some comfort to her when it happens, but she has a tendency to lash out at me and I fear that I'm just making it worse.
