CBT-i (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia)

Many people struggle with insomnia to the point that even with 'powerful' drugs they can't sleep. 

It has been discovered a new therapy called Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia or CBT-i which teaches the person how to relax, what to say to himself and what to do before going to sleep in order to get a good night sleep and stay drug free. 

This therapy has been proven to be more effective than much of the sleep medications and many insurances pay for it. 

 

What do you think about this? Have you tried it already?

My oldest son had real problems with his sleep pattern.  He underwent CBT for other reasons and it cured his insomnia too.  One of the more welcomed side effects !!!!  :)

Hi , the only thing other than tablets that cured my insomnia was Auricular acupuncture ( in the ear ) ... I found that very calming .

Our area pain clinic will actually arrange acupuncture for people - good to see the complementary and main stream medicine beginning to meet in the middle at last! :)

@Suncatcher2015  , I do not believe in any homoeopathic medicine , but Auricular acupuncture really does work  :)

Complementary medicine is not for everyone I know, but it does help loads of people.  I know the placebo argument, but if it works, if it helps, does that really matter?  I agree, Acupuncture is really good.  There was a programme on TV where they were doing an operation on a chap using Acupuncture instead of anaesthesia - really impressive!
