I’m doing a kidney trails and have done for the last 6 years mostly urine and blood test but hopefully doing my bit. There was another trial but I decided it wasn’t for me. But always worth helping if you can

I am in a clinical trial at the moment and it has been going on since April 2020. I just have to fill in the online questionnaire. This is because I am classed as extremely vulnerable as I have CIDP and Parkinson's and am over 70
I have also been in a life trial since 1974 when I had to have a complete hysterectomy. It has followed me around all moves since. It used to be by annual letter but now I do it online

I would be interested in a clinical trial for any natural supplements but not for any prescribed medication

I would like to have volunteered for the current Covid19 plasma trials but have too many conditions to be considered, otherwise I'd have been more than willing to participate.

Hi, I have been involved with a clinical trial since 1974. It is a lifetime trial that was started under a well-woman trial to see what effects having a hysterectomy at a young age. I was 24 when I had to have one. Today I answer questions related to my health as I have got older and what if anything could have an effect on the causes. I am now 75 and have poor health with CIDP and Parkinson's. whether having this operation at the age of 28 is not known so I continue with it although it can no longer help me it might be of interest to people in the future.

Me again, I am involved with The Covid 19 trial which is to see how covid affects people in my age group who are considered extremely vulnerable due to my conditions of CIDP and Parkinson's. It was started during the first lockdown and I have to fill in a questionnaire once a month When the vaccine was first introduced I was asked because My immune system is completely suppressed as it paralyzes me if not controlled. Oddly enough although I have been careful I haven't had it and have now had the first inoculation which affected me for a few hours as it picked on the tremor I have all down my left side and caused the whole body to shake. Other than that I had no reaction to it. It certainly hasn't put me off from having the second one
I feel that if possible people like me should help the science of illnesses and drugs so that in the future medics have the information they need to prescribe patients with the best medication of these programs to get the best results.

While in hospital with Covid 19, I signed up for the blood plasma trial, but unfortunately I was put in the control group with no treatment. I did do 2 other ones as well, but during my stay, the data sheets were lost. The last one was 2 injections, 24 hours apart and according to the consultant that is the one that saved my life, I wish I could remember the name of it, but I had 3 more days in Critical Care Unit after having it. I told the research nurses to come and see me with any trials, as the day I went in, my sister was told to prepare herself, as they thought it was unlikely I would survive the night. I had 5 weeks in hospital and am now into my 6th week at home and recovering very slowly, still getting short of breath and feeling very weak.
I can't praise the NHS enough....

I took part in a clinical trial when my pacemaker had to be changed, I was given one with a tiny box attached that would send back information which was needed at this trial. All I had to do was turn up at the hospital every 3 months, I think it was, for the information to be picked up - it lasted for 18 months I do remember but never heard any more about it.

Dear members,
As you know, clinical trials are an important step in the development of new treatments, or in the improvement of the existing ones.
I think that some of you have already participated in clinical trials, and can share your experience:
- what type of clinical trial was it and for what condition?
- what medication/treatment was it for?
- what were the conditions to enter the clinical trial?
- how long did it last and what were you supposed to do?
- what were the results?
If you have never entered a clinical trial, would you be willing to do it? If not, why not?
For those who are interested in the current clinical trials and/or would like to take part in one, here is the link to the clinical trials website in the UK: https://www.ukctg.nihr.ac.uk/
